Previously known as a humble, tiny fishing village, Fouras quickly evolved into a widely popular coastal resort as sea bathing became trendy.
 
Fouras is located on the Atlantic coast between La Rochelle (20 min away) and Rochefort (10 min away). Anchored on the mouth of the Charente river, the town offers a unique panorama of the Island of Oléron (40min away), Île Madame, Île d'Aix (2mns), Île de Ré (30mns), Fort Boyard and Enet.
